Wacom Bamboo in virtualised Windows 7 problems

11 03 2011

Bummer.  Spent ages virtualising my Windows 7 laptop so that it runs in Ubuntu 10.10 (managing to avoid losing any data, remarkably!), only to find that the Wacom Bamboo driver kills Windows.  Anyone got any solutions?

The setup is this:

Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit
Windows 7 64-bit
Oracle Virtualbox (up to date)
Latest Wacom driver install from their website

In Virtualbox, I’ve selected and de-selected the “Use absolute pointing device” in the settings, which doesn’t seem to make any difference.

I’m thinking of trying out VMWare Server 2 to see if it fares any better, but don’t know if the .VDI file will work with that.  A project for the weekend I think.
